Did okay last week. Had to catch up a little over the weekend, but didn’t get too behind. Mostly fell back because I was waiting on a book to be delivered and had to read several chapters to keep on track with my learning plan. But work-wise, I stayed productive.
Newsletter needs to be written up this week. I’m also going to explore book funnel to find a list builder to get on with a prequel or the first chapter of the witch book or something. I’d like to get a few more people on my list before it’s released in October. And when I upload to medium this week, I’m going to set up my inkspired profile and share the stories over there too. Once I get a following on there I can start a paid story and then I’ll write up some of the stories from high school or something. And I didn’t look at website stuff last week because I went to the zoo with my sister instead, so I’ll do that this week. And I am going to work on Birds Aren’t Real’s blurb.
Because even though there are still a few more days before the kindle countdown is over, I only had two sales so far. And I had them on the bargain booksy email and I posted about it on tiktok. So, I’m starting to think there’s something with the blurb. Ugh. Frustrating. Won’t be earning the money back from yet another promo. I was thinking about creating an AMS ad for it this week, but if I didn’t get more than one sale when it was 1.99, I find it hard to believe I’ll get any paid clicks from amazon unless I adjust something.
Blog this week I think I’m teasing the witch book. If it’s a writing exercise, I’m going to flip through some of the craft books I’ve read so far this year and check out the prompts I’ve tagged. Speaking of, I think for next year I’m going to focus on actually working on what I’ve learned this year. I’ve done a lot of shoving information into my brain and not a lot of utilizing what I’ve learned yet. I’ve tabbed a bunch of books and made a template on scrivener, but I need to buckle down on it more and really immerse myself in the topics. I’ll probably start working on that lesson plan this month so I’ll be ready in January to start.
Editing I need to finish the read through on the NF book. That’s one thing I let fall to the side last week. But I spent more time on the witch book than I originally thought I would need to to get the run through finished. So, I’ll finish the first read on that. And then I need to enter my notes on Birds Aren’t Real 2’s first read and then prepare for the second run through. I’m also going to listen to the final draft of the witch book while I wait for my betas to read it and get back to me. I’m excited for this book to be done.
I wrote over 3k words on witch book 2 last week. I was right, the scenes I was excited to write flowed out no problem. I need to focus on the attraction between Harold and Raven to give that a little richer experience. I was thinking something about her finally admitting her feelings but then blurting out that she knows she’s not his type and then he touches her face and says something sweet or cheesy or something. That’s where I’m starting right now anyway.
And jfc I need to get more bonus work done this week. I realized one of the courses I’m signed up for sends me emails sometimes more than once a day! And it’s not anything interesting half the time so I’m wasting time and space with his emails. I need to hurry and take that course so I can unsubscribe from his emails. Ridiculous.
I also finished sketching out my first planner with the stencils. I’m going to fine tune it and start working on the hard copy for myself as well as the template to load into my etsy store. It’s getting close to planner season and I need to get a few templates in the store so I can promote them soon.
Also, need to figure out how to afford vellum or Atticus in the next few months. Ugh.
Anyway, guess that’s all. Off to work.
