Missed the mark a little last week. But I spent more time relaxing and hanging out with the fam than working since I go back to the day job this week. But I’m still on track with everything, so I’m not worried about it. Did some projects around the house that clears the way to rearrange my ‘office’ next month and I’m excited to clean up my work space. It’s become quite cluttered over the last couple months as I collected more nonsense (important nonsense) and haven’t had time to organize.
This week I’m back to working in my random free time. Which is fine, turns out I thrive on tight schedules. I thought having more time would let me write more often or get my book stuff done early in the day. But instead, I slept in and waited until the evening to get anything done, haha. But school is back in next week so I’ll be up early every day, so we’ll see if that makes a difference instead.
Patreon exclusive and Medium content to go up and plan out. Still no patrons, but that means I’ll have several stories stocked up by the time I need to send any out. But I need to remember to post on the patreon feed once or twice a week as well. Also need to write up the newsletter today. I’m getting more comfortable writing the monthly newsletter. I’m considering upping it to twice a month, but I’m not sure I have enough to say.
Blog shifts started last week. The Tuesday update is now on Substack instead. And I have narrowed down my plan for the website changes. Just need to save up the money for it before starting in. I have the free six months for nrdly, but want to make sure I have the yearly subscription cost once it’s time to pay. I think I’m going to go with nrdly instead of site arcade. I liked the way site arcade is, but I feel like it would have benefited me more if I’d started there. I already feel like I’ve outgrown that setup. Even the advanced author option feels a little eh. But they haven’t launched the new changes so I’m going to give it another month before I make the final decision so I can see how they look.
I’m going to try really hard to finish the listen through of Birds Aren’t Real 2 this week. I’ve been slacking because it’s hard to listen to stuff at home with the kids, but I should be able to get through it during my dinner/lunch breaks at work.
And the ProWriting Aid edits on Witch Book 1 are nearly done and I brainstormed the underlying plot line last night to drive the urgency. This week I’ll draft out the scenes to add this in and then I can send it to betas to get their notes. I’ve designed one mock up cover, but I think I’m going to do a few more before I send them to Daniel to see what he thinks. This is a new genre for me so I’m not as sure about it. The one I made already looks okay, but I wonder if it’s too YA looking. I need to do a little more market research. And then I’ll share on facebook and in the newsletter for some feedback.
Witch Book 2 is coming along nicely. I bounced around a few scenes last week to get my words in and I’m digging the subplot I’m finding (which led to the book 1 brainstorm). I can’t wait to get into the nitty gritty this week when the new villain is introduced.
I also think I need to spend time on the ecourses again this week. I didn’t do any last week, but that was one of the plastic balls I let fall to keep the glass ones up. But I’ve got a few plans this month that I need to implement some more help with. And I need to better understand ads before I sink any more money into them. But I haven’t reached the advertising quarter yet in my learning plan, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon.
That’s all for today, gotta get to work.
