What a week. I knew if I set my mind on the right path, I’d get things accomplished.
I touched up everything for Birds Aren’t Real to prepare for the kindle countdown. This week I need to refresh my bookbub profile and run the fan builder coupon. I also want to look into writing an article for a webzine I’m subscribed to. And request an interview on an author podcast. This is something that will put me way out of my comfort zone, but that’s what it will take to gain some traction.
And speaking of being out my comfort zone - I posted a video on tiktok that finally took off. I’m over 15k views now with likes and comments and shares and all the things. My follower count has doubled and it’s still going even though it’s been a few days now. And I’ve sold 3 copies of the book I posted about with several people saying it’s on their wish list or in their cart. Yay!
I plowed through the rest of the first read for Birds Aren’t Real 2. I’m pretty pleased with the state of the story in general. I need to decide on the main character to flesh it out a little better and fill in some description as usual, but it’s a good first draft.
This week, I’ll do the first read of my nonfiction book and make notes on what I need to add. The NF is very bare bones right now. My headspace wasn’t fully in the project when I wrote out the first draft so it needs a lot of work. But nonfiction seems to be much easier to write. No storyline or descriptions to worry about, haha.
I have three chapters left to put through ProWriting Aid of the witch book 1. I’ll aim for one and a half this week and the rest next week so I can send it to the betas by next weekend. Then I’ll throw together a few different cover examples to send to Daniel. I need to create the book funnel page for the bonus scenes and see if I can get a few subscribers before hand and then have it for the back of the book bonus content.
Witch book 2 is coming along nicely too. I got through the tough scene I was writing with Raven. Then I had fun introducing the villains sidekick in the next two scenes. I’d say I’m about halfway to my word count goal. I’m going to start thinking about where book three will go so I can be ready to lay out the plot threads in this book.
I’m going to try and get through a few of the bonus courses this week as well and get some extra reading done. But that’s not as urgent so if I fall short, I won’t feel bad about it.
That’s all, gotta get to work.
