Another good week in the work zone. I started my 2023 business plan and I like how it’s going so far. I got my free days for Birds Aren’t Real set up and a promo list ready. I’ve got to double check the ebook file to make sure there’s a preorder link for book 2 in the back and then I’ll be good to go. This week I’ll be working on the Non Fiction book prep. I need to mock up the cover, which I think I’m going to just change the first one to say edit instead of plot. To make it easy and hopefully save a little money. Plus that’s the trend I’ve seen in Joanna Penn’s books, they all look very similar with only a few tweaks to make them different. And I’ll add the preorder link for the editing book in the back of the plotting book and plan for it’s next free run to see if I can get a few preorders before release.
On the blog this week I think I’ll do one more scary story. If I find a good prompt. I think I have one more to go off and then I’ll switch to end of year wrap up posts. I’ve leaned into the site arcade website template. I’m going to look over nrdly one more time before I decide and then going into December I’ll start making the changes I need to get it up and running. Site arcade is so simple it’s hard to resist. I don’t have to worry about the color schemes or the graphics or anything like that. And the activity feed will work out for posting links to Medium or inkspired to share my short work and I can update my book progress and stuff too. But we’ll see.
Birds Aren’t Real 2 edits are chugging along at a nice pace as well. I really feel like I found the method for my second pass of edits that works well for me. All the reading I’ve done this year has really paid off.
And I finished the second pass of the edits book too. Now all it needs is a run through prowriting aid to check all the grammar and word choice.
I only have two chapters left in the witch book first draft. And this week I’m going to work on picking plot points for book three. I’ll be writing a different book in between, but I want to keep the story fresh when I start on the plotting part.
And after this week’s scary story for the blog, I’ll be working on editing All Signs 3. Pretty excited to get to work on that and get ready for the next book to come out. I’ve sold a handful of copies of the first two since I posted about them on tiktok. Not many, but a few.
Other than that, I’m just finishing up my reading list for the year and packing out my book journal. I’ve already had to double back on the pages because I ran out of room. I might need to invest in a bigger journal for next year.
That’s about it.
